The Australasian Monster Truck Association (AMTA) is the foremost monster truck safety authority in the Southern Hemisphere, and has been safeguarding the protection of attendees, drivers, and all involved in situating these events for upwards of 20 years, since being established in 2005.

2005 – The Australian Monster Truck Racing Association was formed
In 2005, the AMTA was formed by Clive Featherby, originally under the name the Australian Monster Truck Racing Association (AMTRA), and was officially registered by the Office of Fair Trading in Queensland.
2006 – Surpassed 60 members
In 2006, within less than a year, the AMTRA had surpassed 60 members.
2008 – Vice President appointed
In 2008, Chris George was officially appointed as the Vice President of AMTRA.

2013 – The Australian Monster Truck Association
In 2013, the AMTRA was renamed to the Australian Monster Truck Association (AMTA) to mitigate the growing concern around the racing component of monster truck events in Australia, while simultaneously highlighting and reflecting the association’s expansive industry-oriented focus.
At its peak, the AMTA had over 1000 members.

2025 – The Australasian Monster Truck Association
In 2025, the AMTA was rebranded to the Australasian Monster Truck Association (AMTA) to acknowledge the association’s international focus. Since its formation, the AMTA has included both Australia and New Zealand, as well as other Oceanic countries, but has never officially acknowledged this within its naming until now.
